Monira Islam is a highly experienced credit rating professional with over 15 years of expertise in credit analysis, business evaluation, financial risk assessment, and rating operations within Bangladesh’s financial sector. As the Acting Chief Rating Officer (CRO) of WASO Credit Rating Company (BD) Limited, she oversees the organization’s core rating activities, ensuring analytical excellence, methodological consistency, and the integrity of rating decisions.

Ms. Islam has been associated with WASO Credit Rating Company (BD) Limited since November 2012 and has held various leadership positions throughout her tenure. Over the years, she has played a pivotal role in strengthening the company’s analytical framework, mentoring rating teams, and enhancing the quality of credit assessments across multiple sectors of the economy.

Prior to joining WASO Credit Rating Company (BD) Limited, she worked as a Research Analyst at Credit Rating Information and Services Limited (CRISL), where she gained valuable experience in financial analysis, business research, and corporate credit assessment.

Throughout her career, Ms. Islam has led and participated in numerous rating assignments involving a wide range of industries, including ready-made garments (RMG), financial institutions, insurance, real estate, power generation, jute and textile industries, printing and packaging, steel and re-rolling mills, poultry and fish feed, trading, SMEs, rice mills, marble and sanitary products, and tannery businesses.

Her professional expertise encompasses qualitative and quantitative business analysis, financial statement analysis, credit risk assessment, industry and economic analysis, scenario and sensitivity analysis, financial forecasting, and comprehensive rating report preparation. She has extensive experience in client engagement, operational assessments, and conducting on-site evaluations to gain in-depth insights into business operations and risk profiles. She also serves as an active member of the Rating Committee, contributing to informed and independent rating decisions.

Ms. Islam holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from Daffodil International University and a Master of Business Studies (MBS) in Accounting from National University, Bangladesh. She has further enhanced her professional competencies through specialized training programs conducted by Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited on securities laws, regulations, and fundamental analysis.

With her strong analytical capabilities, industry knowledge, and commitment to professional excellence, Ms. Islam continues to play a vital role in advancing the quality, transparency, and credibility of credit rating practices in Bangladesh.
